CBD is one of the most popular compounds found in the cannabis plant. With its increasing popularity, people have been turning their attention to CBD as a natural remedy for various ailments.

Amidst this popularity, there is still an enormous number of people who think wrong about CBD and its effects. Like cannabis as a whole, the use of CBD weed strains has been associated with so much misinformation.

Here are the top 10 misconceptions about CBD or cannabidiol.

Psychoactive or Mind-Altering Effects

One common misconception is the myth about CBD getting people high. It is because most people associate CBD with marijuana as it is a compound that can be found in the cannabis plant.

It is not CBD that causes the psychoactive or mind-altering effects to its users but the THC. THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is a compound that is also present in the cannabis plant mostly in marijuana. Unlike THC, research has found that CBD does not affect our brain. Instead, it is beneficial for our mental health.

A Cure

People have been using CBD as an alternative medicine for various types of mild and severe diseases. Referring to CBD as a cure to these diseases can be a little bit risky.

CBD is not a cure because it does not entirely eliminate the illness, it only slows down the development. For instance, CBD slows down the growth of cancer cells; however, it is only used as a supplement and not entirely a cure.

For Adults Only

CBD oil or any CBD products that are THC-free are not only safe for adults but even for our young ones. In fact, CBD was used by Charlotte Figi, a young girl who suffers epilepsy.

It also does not have any psychoactive effects which makes it suitable for children with health problems. There are studies that can backed up those claimed health benefits that CBD offers to our children.

CBD Works Best Without THC

Both CBD and THC are effective in treating various health conditions. It is a fallacy that combining CBD and THC is not as effective.

A combination of the two treats neuropathic pain. It was also proven that the combination of CBD and THC has more enhanced anti-inflammatory effects.

CBD weed strains with THC content only have mild psychoactive effects depending on the type of strains and the presence of CBD.

CBD Converts to THC When Consumed

This is another issue circulating about the intake of CBD that causes turmoil to CBD users.

Clinically studies do not support this claim. In the 2007 study, experts had found that less than 3 percent of CBD intake has converted to THC in the body. Such a small amount is not enough to cause psychoactive effects to users and patients consuming CBD.

CBD Have Sedative Effects

While it is true that THC has been proven to have sedative effects, CBD does not.

It can relieve pain, anxiety, and stress, as it also promotes healing sleep. But, it does not cause drowsiness.

On the contrary, CBD promotes alertness, wakefulness, and enhances the user’s focus and creativity. It is because CBD activates the hypothalamus.

All CBD Products Are The Same

Just like how CBD weed strains vary, CBD products are not created equal. CBD widely varies depending on the manufacturer that produces it.

Each producer has different protocol and production procedures for growing, extracting, storing, and processing CBD.

Cannabis strains which are also cultivated in different and varying regions also have different effects. One of the many contributing factors that affect the effectiveness of the compound is the composition of the soil.

CBD is Illegal

There are some states and territories which open their doors for the legality of cannabis both for medicinal and recreational purposes.

On the other hand, there are also states and countries that have stricter regulations on cannabis.

The misconceptions of people about cannabis, hemp, and marijuana are what keep them from knowing which is legal.

The lack of information is understandable. To ensure your status, it is better to research your state’s regulations about the allowed amount or compound content.

CBD Causes Positive in Drug Testing Results

If you consume CBD weed strains with THC content, it is possible to result positive in a drug test. However, if CBD alone, the results are often negative.

CBD cannot be detected by general drug testing. It will not test you positive in any drug testing.

However, if CBD-sensitive testing is being used, then it is possible for you to test out positive. Since CBD does not cause psychoactive effects, it does not really show in the results.

High Doses Are Better

Another misconception about CBD is the higher doses you consume, the better it is.

Contrary to the common belief, lower doses of CBD are much more effective than consuming high doses of it.

While there is no one-size-fits-all dose in taking CBD, finding the right dosage that works for you is the only way.

Risks and possible side-effects may also happen in rare cases in case of overdosing.

While there are no fatal reports about the side effects of CBD, knowing your right dose is advisable than consuming higher than you can handle.

Final Thoughts

There is no denying that Alternative Health including CBD is a booming industry. If you are one of those prospective users, it is better to understand it first.

Understanding CBD and differentiating the facts from fallacy is significantly essential. With the list of the most common misconceptions of CBD, you have now gained knowledge about it.
